Electronic Throttle System
Most modern vehicles now use electronic throttle control systems, which are generally made up of the accelerator pedal, ETC module, and throttle body. The accelerator pedal looks the same as it always has, but its interaction with the throttle body has changed. The throttle cable has been replaced by the accelerator position sensor (APS), which detects the exact position of the pedal at any given moment, transmitting this signal to the ETC module. That means that when you step on your car’s gas pedal, instead of opening the throttle, you’re activating an accelerator pedal module, which converts the pressure you put on the pedal into an electric signal. That signal is then sent to an electronic control unit, which takes your inputs into account, as well as outside variables, to open the throttle for optimum efficiency and performance. It’s a complex system, but one that has a lot of benefits for engine wear, performance and efficiency.
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
The accelerator pedal position sensor(APS) is an important component in the electronic throttle system. It transmissions the signal of the depth and speed of the pedal to ECU.
APS is installed inside the accelerator pedal to monitor the position of the accelerator pedal at any time. The current electronic accelerator pedal uses two resistive sensors and two output voltages. Therefore, the electronic accelerator pedal plug interface we usually see has 6 pins, which are two completely independent reference voltages, output voltages, and grounding. To prevent one of the systems from malfunctioning, the other system can immediately start and replace work.
Safety Tips:
If any of these symptoms occur or your car isn’t responding accurately when you press the gas pedal, you should pull over immediately and call a mechanic.
